5 down, eternity to go!

Today is mine and Kevin's anniversary. We our celebrating five years of blissful, adventurous marriage. Our story started back in 2002. I was off at college when my parents moved to the same branch that Kevin grew up in. (He was on a mission in Puerto Rico at the time) I would come home over the weekends and I got to know the branch. One weekend when I was home my Dad told me they were headed over to the branch presidents house for their sons welcome home cookout. I was not overly interested in going, until my Dad said the magic words "Free BBQ!" That was the first time I met Kevin. We saw each other on just a few occasions after that (he came home in October) since I was in school. It was all casual stuff at the time. I came home over Christmas break and that's when we became a 'we'! I came home on a Thursday. I got dressed up to go to a Christmas dinner the branch was having in hopes to see him there, but he didn't come. He "claims" that his parents told him it wasn't for younger people. Anyway, that Saturday we all met up to go to the movies. Then that Sunday there was some heavy flirting taking place! When I got home I called him to invite him to Sunday dinner at my Granny's house. He came and we were inseparable from then on. We started hanging out every hour we had free. The weekend before I had to be back up at school the branch had a temple trip that we went on. He told me he loved me for the first time when we got back. Then the next day (Sunday and I was leaving that Monday for school) he asked me to marry him! It went something like this...
Kevin: "I love you"
Joni: "I love you too"
Kevin: "I don't want to marry you"
Joni: "..."
Kevin: "I want to make you my best friend forever"
Joni: takes a breath and grins
Kevin: "I know it's only been a short time but I can't think of anything wrong with you or us and I don't want to give satan a chance to mess it up. So will you marry me?"
Joni: "SURE! YES!"
That was January 5th 2003. We got married May 14th 2003!
I feel like the luckiest woman in the world. I love my husband more today than I did yesterday and I know that I will love him even more tomorrow! He is such an amazing person who is perfect to me in every way. I love the little things that he does that constantly whisper "I love you" and I love that he loves me. I love his laugh, his humor, his strength, his ability to read me, his love for his family, his smile, his eyes, his love for the gospel, his desire to do his best, his strong work ethic, I love that he is such a great father who loves his kids immensely... (ok this list could go on forever). Most of all I love that he is my husband! I wouldn't want anyone else :)
