The real deal

Lathen is officially five! I know this sounds cliche, but it really does feel like just yesterday he was born. I am so grateful for this sweet boy that is our first-born. Words cannot express how much joy and love he has brought to our lives. He did two things over the weekend that express just who he is as a person.

The first happened while driving to the store. He had received money from my Granny in a birthday card with instructions to buy himself a present. Lathen was very excited over this idea and asked repeatedly when we were going to the store so he could pick out his toy. As we pulled into the parking lot the follow conversation took place:
Lathen: Um, Mom?
Me: Yes Lathen
Lathen: Can I use some of my money to buy Kieralee a toy too?
Me: (after choking back some serious tears) Yes Lathen, yes you can!

Second happened the morning of his actual birthday. I asked him if he wanted me to call some of his friends and see if they could come over and play and eat cake with us. He replied, "That's ok mom, I want it to be just our family." So that is exactly how we did it on Saturday June the sixth.

Spiderman cake, a present-hunt and family; life doesn't get much better than that!

We placed his presents in different spot around the backyard and let him go out and find them all, he enjoyed it a lot!

Here he told me to take some shots of him "blowing his candles out." except...we hadn't lite them yet.


Lathen kept bending down to lick the cake. It prove to be too much of a temptation and Kevin gave his head a little push...haha!
