Lathen is defiantly my hands on learner. He is always moving, touching and wiggling. When we do our read aloud book he is usually playing with something on the floor or in his lap. I use to worry that he wasn't listening but if I ever stopped and asked what was going on he could tell me. His hands just need to be doing something in order for him to learn.
Lathen sometimes gets his b's d's mixed up. So, I was reading about it and what I read said that it's usually an age thing and they just need to get it filed correctly in their brains. Then my Special Ed teacher mom told me with his learning style I should find ways for him to make the letters and feel the letters. I came across this great idea that I just has to try.
All it takes is some shaving cream and your table. We did this just today and the kids loved it. We did some spelling and then we did some math as well. (Lathen also flips his 9's and p's.)
Oh and in case you were wondering, clean up is a snap!
