Monarch butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico every year. One of the stops on their way is Grapevine, Texas. That's right next to us! So Grapevine hosts a festival during migration! They have a parade where kids (and pets) dress as butterflies, they have all sorts of crafts (for free) and then they do a butterfly release. We had a great time there today! The kids got to make a butterfly page with glue and glitter, they got to see butterflies from all over the world, Lathen got a sword and belt balloon and Kieralee got a butterfly balloon, we made Kieralee some antennas and of course we watched the butterflies take off for Mexico! Then after all the festivities we found some benches in the shade and enjoyed some playtime together (and snapped some pictures).
Lathen's favorite butterflies were the very pretty green ones!
