Monday night Lathen was riding with Kevin with the windows down when some dust blew into his eye. He was all torn up about it. We washed his eye out and then put him to bed. The next morning he was still upset, saying his eye still hurt. I couldn't see anything and figured it must have gotten scratched, but I called the doctor anyway. We got an 11:30am appointment. Lathen freaked out! As soon as he knew we were going to the doctor he began to throw a fit. He continued this fit the entire drive to the doctor, in the waiting room, in the exam room and during the entire exam. He kept screaming he didn't want any shots (last time he was at the doctor he got four of them). I kept telling him he wasn't getting shots, but when Lathen gets worked up like he was, there is no communicating with him. It took three of us to hold him down to the doctor could put the dye in his eye to see if there was a scratch. Sure enough there was. So the doctor prescribed some drops to make sure it doesn't get infected and we were done. Lathen immediately got better seeing that he really wasn't getting shots, but it was short lived. Once we got home and I had to hold him down (him fighting wildly) to put drops in his eyes, he wasn't happy. Then he just sort of went limp on me. He spent the rest of the day moping until he finally took a nap.
He also spent the rest of the day holding a paper towel over his eye so it "won't fall out." After the doctor did the dye test they gave him a napkin to wipe the dye with, he then made it his security blanket and wouldn't not part with it. I mean everywhere we went he had to have this thing. Oh and if he dropped it, it was complete panic until it was returned. He held this thing on his eye so much that his entire eye is bruised and swollen. Finally this morning after another fun filled eye drop event, I talked him out of the paper towel and he seems to be on the mend.
Here Lathen is telling his Papa what happened (notice the paper towel)
Here is his eye today.
