Rabbit Lessons

Tuesday evening a rabbit here on the farm, met it's demise. Wednesday evening Kevin stumbled across a rabbit nest with four, now orphaned, bunnies. We brought the kids down to show them the nest and give them a chance to learn. Since we homeschool we try to make sure to take advantage of every teaching moment. We explained to the kids how sometimes in nature baby animals end up without their mommy and what that means for their survival. We took the babies and kept them alive over night. After checking around of the proper formula that they would need we found that we would not be able to try and help the babies live. So, I contacted a local wildlife rehabilitation person and handed the baby bunnies over.

All of that made the kids really, really want a rabbit of their own. I called around and ended up with a phone number for a lady that had some rabbits. Turns out she had two rabbits, a cage, and food that she was looking to give away to a free home. So, meet Cinderella the white rabbit and Buddy the black and white.

That last photo is about the cutest thing I have ever seen! I had a bunny when I was about 11 and loved him. The kids look like they are enjoying farm life as much as you did, Joni Dew!!
