I love cast iron

I think that cast iron cook wear is the best.  It is so versatile.  You can use it as a skillet, a pot, a frying pan, cook with it on the stove top, in the oven or over an open fire.  And the food just always seems to taste great.  The other night I made pork chops in one cast iron pan and then I did something I hadn't done before, but it made perfect sense.  I made green bean casserole.  Ok, so I've made green bean casserole before, but I had never made it this way before.  I sautéed my onions in a cast iron pan, added my cream of mushroom soup, little bit of milk and my home grown and home canned green beans (yeah I added those details just to brag a little).  Then instead of putting it into a glass pan, I left it in the cast iron and put it in the oven.  Of course a topped it with crushed goldfish and let it bake a few more minutes...it was delicious.
