Lathen is a Hero

I was folding clothes in the bedroom the other day when I heard this panicked cry for Mom from Lathen. I immediately knew in my mom gut that something was very wrong. I came dashing through the apartment to find the cry was coming from our balcony. (remember that we live on the third floor) As I went through the door so I could see him the scene that played before me was horrifying. Lathen was desperately clinging to Kiera who was fighting with all her might to get away from him. The scariest part was that Kiera had climbed on top of some stuff and was climbing OVER the railing when Lathen grabbed her. I leaped over everything, like only a completely terrified mother can do and grabbed Kiera. If Lathen would have let go, Kiera would have fallen. The feeling of even saying it or typing it makes me sick to the bottom of my stomach. Needless to say Lathen is my hero as he not only knew to hang on to her and cry for help, but he did!

Just as a side note, Kiera also fits through the railing and I have caught her before going throw it to look over. Only this time she climbed up and over. I try my best to keep them off the balcony, but Lathen can unlock and open both doors and gets out there without you even hearing him.

I have now totally banned the balcony till we move!
