This, that and the other

This post is going to be a mish-mash of different things that have been happening here in the Mommydew house. First and foremost we have started homeschooling. We are taking baby steps right now and getting all the kinks figured out. Since Lathen is preschool age and they don't have preschool in Texas I figure now is a good time to just start with the basics and then really get into the full swing of things this Fall when he starts Kindergarten. So we've just been reviewing some things he knows already and then just pushing a little past what he already knows. Today he learned to count to 15 (whereas before he stopped at 10). Yesterday while playing baseball in the backyard he learned how to spell ball! Way to go Lathen!

He has also been working on writing his letters. Here he wrote his name all by himself!

For Christmas he got a Fisher-Price Cool Computer He loves this thing. As part of his school day he works on different skills from Reading, Math, Art, Music and Science, all on the computer. Which obviously doing the work on the computer also helps with his technology skills. Here he is the other morning working on his school work!



What is Kieralee doing while Lathen is busy with his computer? She is helping me. As my Dad says "She is helping cut my time in double!" Here she is helping me do the dishes.

And then we moved on to laundry. First Kieralee helped me make up my bed and then we began to fold clothes. Here she is folding (she actually just half way rolls them up and then lays them down).


On to other random things:
Oh so a while back the kid were jumping on the couch (like they aren't suppose to be doing) and they ended up knocking the lamp off the table and breaking it. Then the other day Lathen comes to me and says "Look Mom, I fixed the lamp!"


Last Saturday Kevin and I did some early Spring cleaning in our room. We were taking things out of the top of our closet and dusting and such. While cleaning I found my sling I used after I had Kieralee. I couldn't resist putting the kids in it.
