I saw this on a friends blog. I watched it and couldn't help but want to run my own little test on Lathen. I sat him down in our front room and proceeded with the test. It was a little more difficult because I don't have an empty room to put him in or a video surveillance to watch from but I did discover a few things about Lathen:
First, he came right out and said he wanted the extra marshmallow and would wait for it.
Second, he had a harder time sitting there for 15 minutes than he did avoiding eating the marshmallow.
Third he takes a Joseph and Potiphar's wife sort of approach, he kept leaving. He even told me to come get him, from playing somewhere else, when the time was up. (Of course I told him no he had to sit there)
Fourth Lathen will do things to make a problem less of a problem. What I mean by this is when I came in after the 15 minutes was up, Lathen had taken a toy and covered the marshmallows up so he didn't have to look at them.
Crazy kid!
I'm not sure I agree with everything in this study, but it was fun to test it out. You should do it to and let me know what your kids do!
