True Story

Today the kids came running in to tell me what had just happened outside. Lathen breathing heavily tells me that they found a snake. I then questioned him to make sure it was indeed a snake and in fact it was. Then he said, "I picked it up with a stick and handed it to Kiera, because she wanted to hold it."

Real macho Lathen. You picked it up with a stick to hand it to your little sister who then held it with her hands.

They went on to tell me how it stuck it's tongue out, it felt all slick (well at least Kieralee said it felt slick) and how they put it down because it had to go back to it's mommy. Awe, how sweet?!

Please note that I did look up the snake, following Lathen's description. He then confirmed that the picture on the computer was the same snake. It was a rough earth snake. Thank goodness it was a harmless one.

Why in the world would my kids not think to come and tell me about the snake before handling it?! I'm just putting that out there...

I am so terrified of snakes. You have some brave kiddos. I think my kids would freak out if they came across one. Thank goodness it was harmless.

If I was handed a snake, I might just pass out. I HATE them. Our friend here has a few of them as pets. Her son showed me one up close. I froze. Brave kiddos you have there.

Just wait. Morgan is my snake lover and she'll find one, capture it, look it up and then make it a 'habitat' all before even telling me she has a snake. Hey, at least she's been instructed on how to handle any snake.
