I am the youngest of three siblings. My sister is the oldest and then my brother and then me. As a young child I always adored my sister, but she was often of the personality to play by herself. That usually put me teamed up with my brother Ammon. I loved my brother. I thought everything he did was cool and I wanted to do everything he did. I even begged my Dad for a buzz cut, just like Ammon's. Thank you Mom for not letting Dad go through with it! I can remember trying to be tough like Ammon. I can remember this one time when we were riding our bikes...we had a huge hill that led down to where our house was and Ammon could fly down the hill. I often would walk my bike down the hill or ride the brakes. One day we were doing laps up and down the driveway (it was a mile long) and Ammon was doing all these cool tricks on his bike and I wanted desperately to be just like him. He would go screaming down the hill and at the last turn slam on his brakes and slide sideways to make the turn. Oh! how I thought he was the most amazing kid ever! He finally talked me into enough courage to try it. Well, needless to say I wasn't Ammon and it didn't go as planned. I hit my brakes after going faster than I ever had, only to crash. As I lay there crying Ammon came running! He quickly looked at my bleeding knee and made a dash for the house to get his Boy Scout First Aid kit. As he swabbed me with alcohol (yes, it burned terribly) he told me all about how COOL my crash was. How I flew in the air and did a flip, bike and all. That did it, I thought I was so cool and tough. Only as I got older did I realize that really my crash was nothing more than falling over and sliding a bit, but at the time him telling me it was so awesome was the best!
Now as I watch Lathen and Kieralee I can see that same look in her eyes. Everything Lathen does is cool. She wants to do everything he does and anything he tells her is nothing less than gold. Take today for example. They were outside and Lathen took off his shirt because it was hot. So likewise Kierlee wanted hers off! She has no idea she is a girl and girls keep their shirts on, if Lathen does it she wants to do it! She follows him around copying his every move. I am so grateful they love each other and are so close. I hope they will always be best friends!
