Dreams

I grew up on a farm. We had a large lake on our property, we had family and I had a horse. To me that was the perfect way to live. I miss it. I miss having land, having what felt like endless woods to explore. It was really hard to move to Texas, to a BIG city. Where there is more concrete than trees and where you can hardly see stars. I often feel like I can't breath! I long for farm life. I long for simplicity.

I have to confess that I have a secret habit. Sometimes I'll spend too much time on the computer looking at farms for sale. There I said it. But if it makes me happy to dream then I say dream, right?!

Can you see it? Can you see my farm? Rolling green pastures with horses, a cute barn, a chicken coop, maybe some other farm animals like a goat or a pig. Our cozy southern home with a porch and a swing. From the porch you can hear the soft trickle of a creek and the laughter of kids playing in the woods. Can you smell the fresh air? See the unlimited stars at night? Oh how my heart yearns!

Here is a glimpse into my childhood and at the farm I miss so much.

I'm so jealous. That's all my dad ever dreamed of having for us kids and it just never quite happened. Life is so unfair sometimes.

Right there with you Joni. Not only do I miss the farm, but the people that live on it.

It's hard to try and be a first generation land owner these days. The farm I grew up on my grandfather bought in the 40's.

I guess if I win the lottery I can buy my dream farm. Oh wait, that would mean I would have to buy a ticket, dang it.

What a beautiful place! This post made me homesick, even though even Mt. Airy is a concrete jungle compared to all that open land.

Maybe the celestial kingdom will be farmland.

Wow, you've got me wanting to live on a farm :) I grew up going to Grandpa's farm--good memories.
